Meet the maker behind Knight & Needle

Haruka "Ru"

Haruka has been making costumes since they discovered cosplay in 2014 and has been sewing since 2002.

They remember being a very small child watching old Hollywood musicals from the 20's through the 50's, as well as classic & Renaissance Disney movies and wanting to make those costumes when they grew up which has influinced their style of costuming ever since

They started working professionally in theatrical costumes in 2016 as a Quick Change dresser & makeup artist. They dressed and designed 22 shows before taking a break to focus on cosplay in 2022 and they are excited to be able to return soon.

Beacause of their disabilities they focus on accessiblity in costuming and cosplay. They hope to be able to influence change within the cosplay community regarding inclusivity and accessibility.
